Colour woodblock print, oban. The kabuki actor Onoe Matsusuke I as the ghost of the wet-nurse Iohata holding a baby in her arms, either in the play ‘Tenjiku Tokubei ikoku banashi’ by Katsu Hyozo I, (Tsuruya Nanboku IV), performed at the Kawarasaki-za from the 7th month of 1804, or in ‘Namimakura ikoku no kikigaki’ by Namiki Gohei I, performed at the Ichimura-za from the 6th month of 1806.
