Shin Hanga: The Reflective Girl Artist: Keigetsu Format: Oban tate-e: 17" x 11.25" Subject: From an untitled series of prints hand-printed by Nishimura Kumakichi in 1923 this charming study of a reflective young bijin leaning on a tobacco pipe ranks as one of the most delightful bijin designs of the Shin Hanga. This example is particularly fine and does not suffer from the usual black oxidation of the white gofun used for the girl's face and hands. Publisher: Blocks carved by: Yamagishi Kazue. Printed by: Nishimura Kumakichi Date: c. 1923 Condition: Full size with large margins (not fully shown in scanned image). Minor foxing, stains, marks and flaws. Generally very good state. Colour: Fine colors. Impression: Fine impression with gauffrage and silver mica used for the under-kimono, obi, hair-tie and pipe.
