Title Beach Meiji lithograph Artist Shoun Yamamoto 1870-1965 Signature Shoun. Dated Ca. 1910 - 1920. Medium/Technique Lithograph. Width Item 13.8 inches = 35.0 cm Height Item 10.2 inches = 26.0 cm Description People are wearing old fashioned swim suites and enjoying the activities on a beach and the swimming in the ocean. Lithograph enjoyed great popularity during Meiji era because of its ease for mass-production. It started to be widely used around 1880 with hand colored publications and quickly developed into multi-colored commercial applications replacing woodblock printing.
