説明：
The "evening glow" is the glow of the fireworks set off from boats on the Sumida on the night ofthe Kawabiraki, or "river opening", ie. the festival marking the beginning of the summer season. Men, women and children are viewing the scene, and at left a street vendor of edibles is calling his wares. Ryogoku bridge spans the river in the background, and some of the spectators are upon a smaller bridge, a portion of which is in the foreground at the right.
