This is a beautiful original woodblock print by noted shin hanga printmaker Kawase Hasui. It is entitled "Pine Tree, Snow, Clear Day", and it was published by Kawaguchi and Sakai, as opposed to his usual publisher Watanabe (hence no Watanabe seals). I imagine that this is a later impression, as it is my understanding that early Kawaguchi and Sakai prints were numbered, and this one does not appear to be. That said, it is quite old nonetheless, not a recent reprinting (please don't confuse this lovely print with the late edition restrike Hasui prints so often found on ebay!). Color and impression are superb; condition is very good, with just some light toning to the reverse of the print where it was (and still is) stored in its original presentation folder. Oban size, about 14 1/4 x 9 1/4 plus full margins.
