"Meisho Edo Hyakkei" (One Hundred Famous Places of Edo) "Oji Shozoku Enoki Omisaka no Kitsunebi" (New Year's Eve Foxfires at the Changing Tree, Oji). Eery foxfires and the stars faintly illuminate the dark country side at Oji. The legend says that the all the foxes in the Kanto area come to Inari Shrine of Oji to pay their respects and receive the orders for the next year on the New Year's Eve. At the changing tree, here, they change to their proper attire before they visit the shrine. This fantastic scene has been considered one of The Best Three in "One Hundred Famous Places of Edo" series.
